Deepali Restaurant

Deepali Restaurant is tucked inside Hotel Divya on the B1/101 floor. We are right in the middle of the Assi area in Varanasi. If you walk down towards the Ganga river, you’ll find us near Dumraon Bagh. It’s always crowded around here because of Assi Ghat. You hear the bells from the temples and the sound of people walking down to the water all day long. Being near the river means there’s always a bit of a breeze, even when it’s hot. We started this place to feed the people staying at the hotel and the folks wandering around the ghats. It’s not a big, quiet place. It’s loud and full of life, like the rest of the city. We have a lot of travelers coming through, some staying at Divya and some just passing by. We keep the tables wiped down and the water ready. The address is a bit of a mouthful, but once you find the gate near the river, it’s easy. We spend a lot of time just managing the flow of people coming in from the heat. Sometimes the power goes out, or the street gets blocked by a cow, but that’s just Varanasi life. We don’t try to be anything we aren’t. It’s just a spot to sit for a bit, eat something, and watch the world go by on the way to the ghat. The morning sun hits the building in a certain way that makes it feel very peaceful for about ten minutes before the noise starts. We just keep the kitchen going and do the daily tasks for whoever walks in.
