Chhappan Bhog Sweets & Restaurant

Our place is in Orderly Bazar, right across the road from the Bank of India. If you’re in this part of Varanasi, you’ve probably walked past us a dozen times already. We are a mix of a sweet shop and a small restaurant, located at S 2/157. It’s a busy street, and there’s always a lot of noise from the rickshaws and bikes passing by throughout the day. We start early in the morning, getting the kitchen fired up and the tables wiped down. We don’t have a massive menu, just the standard things people in the area like to eat. It’s a simple setup. We have some seating for people who want to sit down for a meal, and then the counter for those who just want to grab some sweets and go. The building is older, but it serves its purpose for what we do. We don’t go in for big advertisements or anything like that. People mostly know about us because they live nearby or work in the shops around Orderly Bazar. The staff is local, and they speak the language of the street. It can get pretty warm in the kitchen during the summer, but that’s just how it goes. We try to keep the place tidy, though it’s hard with so many people coming in and out all day long. It’s just an honest, local business trying to do this work for the folks in Varanasi. We’ve been here for a while and plan to stay.
