Sun Lihgt Beach Restaurant

Sun Lihgt Beach Restaurant is out in Tarasi, Kundapura, right across from the famous Maravanthe Beach. If you’ve ever driven along that stretch of road where the sea is on one side and the river is on the other, you’ve probably passed us. We are just a local beach spot where people stop when they are traveling between Udupi and Karwar. It’s not a fancy place with white tablecloths. We mostly deal with sand on the floor and the smell of the salt air coming off the ocean. The restaurant has been here for a while and we mostly serve the people who are taking a break from their long drives. Maravanthe is beautiful but it can get quite hot, so we provide a bit of shade and some fresh food. Our kitchen isn't massive but the cooks know what they’re doing with the local catch. We don’t have a big marketing team or anything like that. It’s just us, the beach, and the road. Sometimes the wind gets quite strong and we have to secure everything down, but that’s just life on the coast. It’s a simple life out here in Kundapura. We just keep the stoves going and wait for the next bus or car to pull over. It’s an honest place for people who just love being near the water and having a meal while they watch the waves.
