Jewal Rock Bar & Restaurant

Jewal Rock Bar & Restaurant sits in the Ramanipal Building over in Vidyarathna Nagar. Manipal is a unique place because of all the students and people from different parts of the country. We are right here in the Udupi district, and our spot has become a bit of a fixture in the neighborhood. The building isn't the newest, but it holds up well enough for what we do. We have a bar area and a place to sit and eat, and we keep things pretty casual. You won't find any fancy uniforms or rehearsed speeches here. We are just a group of people who like running this spot. The evening time is usually when things pick up, and you can hear the chatter from the tables. We’ve spent a lot of time making the space work for us and the folks who visit. It’s a bit of a walk from the main university gates, but people seem to find their way here easily enough. We don't do much advertising; word usually gets around just by people talking. The chairs have some wear on them, and the floors see a lot of feet, but that’s how a busy place should be. We just open up, serve what we have, and close down when the day is done. It’s a simple life for us here in Manipal, and we wouldn't have it any other way because we like the local energy.
