Udaipur Marble Art Handicraft

Down in Savina, specifically at 783, Barket Colony, Section 12, is where you’ll find Udaipur Marble Art Handicraft. It’s a dusty place because of all the stone work. We’ve got pieces of marble sitting around in different stages of being finished. Some are just big blocks and others are almost done. The noise from the tools can be a bit much sometimes, so we usually have the radio playing to balance it out. Barket Colony is a bit of a maze if you don’t know your way around, but we’ve been here long enough that the neighbors know us. We don’t have a showroom with air conditioning or glass cases. Everything is just out on the tables or leaning against the walls. You can smell the wet stone when we are cutting. My hands are usually covered in white dust by noon. We take breaks when the heat gets too intense in the afternoon. It’s hard work, but it’s what we know. People come by to see the progress on things they’ve asked us to make. We don’t have a big sign out front, just the address and the name. The yard is full of scraps that we might use for smaller things later. It isn’t the cleanest shop in Udaipur, but we get the jobs done. Most days are spent just moving stone and shaping it bit by bit. The tools are old but they still work fine for what we need.
