Shaista Handicraft is located right at the Ambavadi Rampura Chauraha. If you are looking for our shop, we are directly opposite the Chaudhary Guest House. Actually, that guest house is the best landmark because almost everyone in this area knows it. Our shop is packed with all sorts of things that people have made by hand. It is not a factory or a big warehouse; it is just a place where traditional work gets brought together and sold. The crossroads at Rampura Chauraha is always moving with people and rickshaws, so it stays pretty lively. We have been in this same spot for a long time now. The wooden shelves are crowded with different items, and sometimes it is hard to see everything we have in one visit. We don’t have a fancy display window or any of those bright lights. It is just a simple, honest shop where the items have to speak for themselves. Most of the people who walk in are looking for something unique for their own home or maybe a gift for a friend. The dust from the main road comes in whenever the door is open, so we are constantly dusting off the stock. It is a family-run business, really. We talk to the local makers and then bring their work here to the chauraha. Being opposite the guest house is helpful because visitors stay there and wander over to see the items.
