Harish Handicrafts

Our shop is located right in Moomal Tower, just across from the Saheli Palace Hotel. It’s a very active part of town because of Saheliyon Ki Bari being so close. Every day we see plenty of tourists walking by and looking at the window displays. Inside, we have a lot of different wooden things and local crafts tucked into every corner. It can get quite messy because new stuff arrives in big crates and we have to find space on the shelves. The floor is often covered with packing shavings and tape. We spend hours rearranging the statues and the wall hangings so people can actually walk through the narrow aisles. The air smells like old wood and maybe a bit of polish. It’s not a very quiet place since the main road is right there. Sometimes the electricity goes out and we just sit by the door for some light. We have boxes stacked up high near the back desk. Most of the items are just things we’ve gathered over the months. It isn't a showroom with bright lights or anything like that. It’s just a regular workplace where we manage the stock and handle the daily walk-ins. Some days are slow and we just clean the glass. Other days it feels like everyone is asking about the same thing at once. We usually leave the big front doors open for the breeze, even though it brings in more noise from the hotel traffic outside.
