Ali Baba Arts & Crafts

We are tucked away at 9, Malla Talai over by Haridas Ji Ki Magri. If you know where the Oberoi Trident Hotel is, we are just outside of that. It’s an interesting spot because we get a mix of locals and people who are just visiting the area. We do a lot of traditional crafts here. Ali Baba Arts & Crafts has been our life for quite some time. The building isn't anything special, but it’s ours. Inside, it’s usually a bit of a mess with all the projects we have started. We make things that we think look good and hopefully, other people think so too. We don't have a fancy marketing plan. We just put our items out and talk to the people who come by. The view outside toward the hotel is nice, but we spend most of our time looking at what’s on our workbenches. It gets hot in the afternoons, so we usually keep the doors open to get a bit of a breeze. Sometimes the monkeys from the hills come down and we have to keep an eye on our stuff. It’s just one of those things you deal with when you’re in this part of town. We just keep working away, piece by piece. It’s a simple life and we are happy enough with how things are going at Malla Talai. Most days we are just busy sanding things or painting small details until it is time to close up.
