Surbhi Padukalaya

We are located right in the middle of Sindhi Bazar, near the Panchyat Nohra in the Bhamashah Market area. It's a very busy part of town where people are always rushing around from one shop to another. We focus on footwear of all kinds, mostly stuff people wear for their daily lives. The shop isn't very large, so we have to make use of every little bit of space we have on the walls and floor. Most days, you’ll find us busy either unpacking new stock that just arrived or helping someone try on a pair of slippers. The market atmosphere around us is always loud and full of talk, which is something we’ve just grown used to over the years. We get a lot of local families who live in the nearby lanes and also some people who are just passing through the bazaar for the first time. It’s a simple business for us. We just put out the shoes on display and wait for people to stop by. The building is older, just like most of the structures in this part of the old city. We don’t use any computers or modern systems, just a simple pen and a notebook to write down what we sell. Sometimes when the electricity goes out, we just move our stools closer to the door where there’s a bit of natural light from the street. It’s a honest way to spend the day. We’ve known our neighbors for a long time and we all watch each other's shops during the breaks.
