Sri Rajdeep Restaurant

We are located out in Salumbar, which is part of the Udaipur district but feels like its own world. The restaurant is right by the bus stand, so we get a lot of travelers who are just passing through on their way to the bigger cities or deeper into the village areas. Udaipur Ho is a bit of a distance away, but this is where the local life happens. The building is simple, just like the food we serve. It gets very dusty here because of the buses pulling in and out all day, so we are constantly wiping down the tables. We serve basic meals that are meant to keep you going. There’s no air conditioning, just the breeze coming through the open front and some old ceiling fans that have seen better days. Most of the people who eat here are regulars from the village or drivers who know the route well. They don't look at a menu; they just ask for what’s cooking in the pots that day. The tea is always hot and we make it strong with plenty of milk. It’s a humble spot, and we don't try to be anything else. We open up early when the first buses start moving and we stay open until the last ones leave. It’s a lot of long hours standing on our feet, but it’s how we’ve always done it here in Salumbar. It works for the folks around here.
