We’ve been here at Bhuwana on NH-8 for a long time now. If you drive past the DJM area, you’ll see our place, Shilpi Marble Art, right there by the road. It’s a busy spot with trucks and cars always going by, so there’s usually a bit of dust in the air. We spend most of our days working with the stone, mostly marble, and our hands are almost always white from the sanding. It’s not a fancy office or anything like that. It’s a workshop where we keep the slabs and pieces we’ve finished. Sometimes the sun gets really hot on the highway, and we just sit under the shade for a bit with some tea. People stop by when they’re traveling through or if they live nearby in Bhuwana. We don’t have any big sales pitches or fancy brochures to hand out. We just show what we have sitting in the yard. The pieces are heavy and take a lot of effort to move around, but that’s just how it is. We try to keep things organized, though sometimes the smaller scraps end up in a pile in the corner. It’s a simple life out here near the highway. We open up early in the morning before the traffic gets too loud and stay until the sun starts to go down. If you’re ever near DJM, you’ll probably see us outside moving something around or just keeping an eye on the shop.
