Santosh Handicraft

You can find Santosh Handicraft over at 707 City Palace Road. We are right in the Durga Sadan building, which is quite close to the police station. It is a busy part of town, so there is always something going on outside our door. The shop is not very big, but we pack it full of the different things we work on. Most of the items are handmade, and you can see the tools lying around if you walk in at the right time. We spend most of our day sitting on the floor or at small benches. It is how we have always done it. My family has been around this area for a long time. City Palace Road gets a lot of people walking by, but many just peek in and keep going. We do not mind that. We just keep working on the wood and the paint. Sometimes the dust from the street comes in, so we have to clean the shelves more than I would like. It is a bit of a squeeze inside Durga Sadan with all the inventory, but we manage. Being near the police station makes it easy to give people directions. We open up around mid-morning and usually stay until the sun goes down. There is not any fancy lighting or big signs here. It is just a regular workshop where we make stuff.
