Royal Darbar Restaurant & Cafe

Our place, Royal Darbar Restaurant & Cafe, is located at 3 Gulabbag Road. We are right in Udaipur, very close to Gulab Bagh itself. It’s a nice part of Rajasthan, and we get a lot of people walking by after they’ve been to the gardens. We started the cafe part because we thought people might want a place to sit for a bit longer. It’s not always easy keeping up with everything, especially during the tourist season when the streets are packed. We do our own cooking and cleaning for the most part. There’s a small staff, mostly local guys from around the neighborhood. We don't have a big corporate manual or anything. If something breaks, we fix it ourselves. The building is older, so it has some character, though the walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint soon. We spend a lot of time just making sure the ingredients are right. Udaipur is a beautiful city, but running a business here means dealing with the heat and the narrow roads. We keep things pretty informal. If you come in, you’ll probably see me or one of my brothers behind the counter. We don't do much advertising. Most people just see the sign when they are heading toward the park. It’s a decent life, and we get to meet all sorts of people from different places.
