About Rajasthan Art & Craft – Art & Craft in Udaipur
We are located over at the Doodh Talai Government Handicraft Shopping Complex, in units 24 to 27. It's a bit of a maze in here sometimes, with all the different shops and hallways. Our space is filled with a lot of the traditional stuff you’d expect from this region. We have spent years filling up these units with things we like. It’s not a fancy boutique by any means. The walls could use a fresh coat of paint, and the floor is just plain concrete. We spend most of our time sorting through the inventory and making sure things aren't getting too dusty. Since we are near Doodh Talai, there are always plenty of people walking around outside, especially in the evenings. We keep the doors open to get a breeze, though it doesn't always help when it's really hot out. We have a few old chairs where we sit and talk to the other shopkeepers in the complex when things are slow. Most of our work is just keeping track of what comes in and what goes out. We use old-fashioned ledgers for most of it because the computer we have isn't always reliable. It’s a straightforward way of living. We don't put on any acts for the people who visit; we just show them what we have in the back. It’s a busy, dusty, and honest place to spend our days working with the local crafts.
