If you go down Nh-8 near Amberi, you will find Prem Marbles Pvt. Ltd. It’s right on the highway, so it’s never really quiet. There is always the sound of big trucks roaring past our gate. The yard is full of massive marble blocks and cut slabs. When it rains, the stone looks completely different, and we have to be careful walking around because the ground gets muddy. Most of our day is spent outdoors or in the shed where the cutting happens. The white dust covers everything—our clothes, the desks, even the trees nearby. We have a small office room where we keep the records and a few chairs for visitors. It’s a practical space, mostly just for business. We deal with the weather every day, whether it’s the intense sun or the monsoon rains. The workers are always busy with the cranes, moving the heavy pieces so we can show them to people. It’s hard work and your hands stay dirty most of the time. We drink a lot of water because of the heat out here on the highway. There isn't much around us in Amberi, just a few other stone yards and some small dhabas. We just focus on the stone and getting it loaded onto the trucks for the long trips ahead. It's just a lot of heavy lifting and managing the daily inventory.
