Down at 14, Lalghat, the air always feels a bit different. We’ve been working with textiles and handicrafts for a while, and this spot has become like a second home to us. It’s not a polished store with bright lights and fancy displays. Instead, you’ll find stacks of fabric piled up in the corners and the smell of raw materials everywhere. Lalghat is a busy area with a lot of history, and we like being part of that local fabric. We spend our days talking to the people who actually make the things we sell. Sometimes their work is late, or the colors aren't exactly what we expected, but that’s the nature of handmade stuff. We don't try to hide the imperfections because that’s what makes the items real. The floor is usually covered in loose threads and bits of wood shavings. We have a small desk where we do all the billing and writing, but mostly we’re on our feet moving things around. It’s a lot of physical labor, lifting heavy rolls of cloth or packing crates for transport. We don't have a big marketing team or anyone to tell us how to talk to people. We just tell it like it is. If a shipment is going to be late, we say so. If we’re out of stock, we’ll tell you to come back next month when we have more.
