Mewar Handicrafts is at 44 Ganesh Ghati, inside the Shivarti House. It is an old building with a lot of character, though the stairs can be a bit much if you are not used to them. We have set up our workshop here because it is quiet enough to get work done. Ganesh Ghati is a steep area, so we do not get as much foot traffic as the main roads. That suits us just fine. Most of what we do involves traditional methods that we learned from our elders. The rooms in Shivarti House are small, but they keep the heat out during the summer. We spend a lot of time just prepping the materials before we even start making anything. There is a lot of waiting involved, like waiting for glue to dry or paint to set. We drink a lot of tea while we wait. The walls are covered in old sketches and notes we have made over the years. It is not a polished showroom by any means. It is a place where things get made by hand. We do not have any fancy titles or a big management team. It is just us working in these rooms day after day. If you come by, you might find us sitting on the floor surrounded by tools. It is a simple way to spend the day.
