Mewar Handicraft Works

Our workshop, Mewar Handicraft Works, is over at 44 Kamlawadi, Shivrati House. We are quite close to Ganesh Ghat, so we often see the activity down by the water. The building we are in is quite old and has a lot of character, even if the stairs are a bit creaky. We have been working here for a long time, and the space is filled with everything we’ve accumulated over the years. It’s not the most organized place, but we know where everything is. We don't have a receptionist or a sales team. When you come in, you’ll probably find us covered in dust or paint, depending on what we are doing that day. We just like making things. It started as a small hobby for some of us and turned into a full-time job. We don't really follow a strict schedule; we just work until the job is done. Sometimes we stay late when there is a deadline, and other times we close early if the weather is nice. The neighborhood is friendly and we often share tea with the other shop owners nearby. We don't claim to be anything special. We are just local people making local goods in a place we’ve always known. The light comes in nicely through the windows in the morning, which is the best time to work. It’s a good way to live.
