About Manglam Handicrafts – Art & Craft in Udaipur
Manglam Handicrafts is tucked away near the Tak Building in Fatehpura. If you know the Kharol Colony area, we are right there by Hitawala Ki Bari. It’s a busy little spot. We spend most of our time working on various items, mostly things made by hand. It's not a factory with big machines. We have a few people who come in every day to carve, paint, or polish whatever we are making that week. Sometimes the place is a bit of a mess with wood shavings or paint smells, but that's just part of the process. My father started this a long time ago, and we just kept it going. We don't really do much advertising. People who like handmade things usually find their way to us eventually. The street outside can get a bit crowded with traffic, but inside we just focus on the work. It takes time to make things properly by hand, so we don't rush. If a piece isn't looking right, we just start over or fix it until it looks okay. The Tak Building is a good landmark for people visiting our workshop for the first time. We mostly sell to local shops or people who stop by. It’s a quiet life for the most part, just making things and trying to make sure the quality is decent enough for people to want them. Every day is a bit different depending on what orders we have and who shows up.
