Krishna Art Palace

You can find us at 3, City Palace Road. It’s an old part of town and we’ve been in this building for quite some time. The shop is full of all sorts of things, from small carvings to bigger paintings. I wouldn't call it a gallery, it's more of a store where things are stacked up and you have to look around to find what you like. We deal with a lot of local stuff. My father started this and now I’m the one opening the shutters every morning. City Palace Road gets a lot of visitors, which is good for us, but we also have locals who come in looking for gifts or something for their homes. It’s a bit dusty sometimes because of the street, but we try to keep the pieces wiped down. There’s no air conditioning, just a couple of ceiling fans that hum all day. It feels real. Sometimes artists come by to show us new work and we decide if we have space for it. The walls are pretty much covered from top to bottom. If you walk past, you'll see some of the bigger statues sitting near the entrance. We don't do much advertising, mostly people just wander in while they are walking toward the palace. It’s a quiet way to spend the day, surrounded by these objects and talking to whoever walks in. We just take it slow and see what happens each day.
