Hasta Kala Kendra

You can find Hasta Kala Kendra over on Ganesh Marg in the Dholi Bavdi area. This is a very old part of the city and the streets are quite narrow. I have been here at this location for many years. We focus on traditional work because that is what people in Dholi Bavdi have always done. My shop is not very large and it is filled with all kinds of things we have made or bought. Ganesh Marg is always busy with people going about their business. There are many other small shops around us so it feels like a real community. Sometimes the power goes out and we just sit outside on the step. I do not have a computer here, I just use a notebook for everything. People come to us because they know the name from their parents or neighbors. It is a very local way of doing things. We do not have any glossy brochures. The items on the shelves speak for themselves. Sometimes it is a bit messy with scraps and packing material but that is part of the work. I like being in this part of town because it feels real. Every day is pretty much the same but I do not mind. We just keep doing what we do and hope people keep coming to Ganesh Marg. It is a simple shop for simple needs.
