Shorya Art Handicrafts

Shorya Art Handicrafts is based out in Village Sisarma in the Teh. Girwa area. It is a bit of a different pace out here compared to the city. We spend our time making various handmade items that we’ve learned to create over the years. The workshop is right in the village, so we are surrounded by our neighbors and local life. We use a lot of traditional methods that take a bit of time, so nothing happens very fast around here. Most of the work is done by hand with simple tools that have been passed down or bought locally. There is always some dust or scraps on the floor from whatever we are carving or putting together. It’s a quiet kind of work, but it takes a lot of concentration. Sometimes people from the city come out this way to see what we are making in Sisarma. We don’t have a fancy showroom or anything like that. It’s just the place where we work and store our finished pieces until they are ready to go. The weather affects how we work sometimes, especially when it’s too hot to be in the shed. We just keep at it because it is what we know. Living and working in the village means we know everyone around, and they know what we do. It’s a simple life focused on making things that look nice and last for the people who buy them.
