Our place, Divya Handicraft, sits on Sapetia Bedla Link Road, right across from Ganpati Marble. It’s a bit of a drive out from the main city center but it’s quieter here which helps us focus. We have a lot of space for our materials and the different pieces we are working on at any given time. It’s not a polished store by any means. There’s dust on the windows and the sign is a little faded from the sun, but the work happens every single day regardless. We started this because we needed a place to build things. Most of the people who work here live nearby and we’ve become like a small family over the years. We don't have a website that works properly and we don't really do much advertising. People usually find us because they saw the marble shop across the road and noticed us too. We handle a lot of different materials and sometimes the workshop gets really crowded when a big order comes in. It’s hard work and the hours can be long during the summer months. We just take it one day at a time and try to keep the quality consistent. There are no big bosses here, just us trying to make a living with our hands. It's a simple life at Divya Handicraft and we like it that way. Most days we are just busy with the tools.
