Being over by the old glass factory in Khempura, at number 23, means we aren't in the middle of the fancy tourist markets. This part of town is a bit more industrial and rough around the edges, which suits us just fine. At Crafts N Marble, we spend our days surrounded by big slabs of stone and smaller craft items that we’ve been working on. It’s a lot of physical labor, moving heavy things around and making sure nothing gets chipped or broken. The workshop is pretty cluttered with offcuts and tools scattered all over the workbenches. We don’t really have a front desk or a receptionist. Usually, if you show up, you’ll find one of us with a mask on, busy with a grinder or a chisel. It gets quite loud during the day, so you might have to shout a bit to get our attention. We’ve been in this spot for years and the local people know where to find us. We don't bother much with fancy displays or lighting. Most of our items are just stacked up wherever there is a bit of empty space. It’s a bit of a maze if you try to walk through the back rooms. We drink a lot of tea to keep ourselves going, especially when it’s cold in the mornings. It’s honest work and it keeps us busy from sunrise until the sun goes down. We just focus on getting the pieces finished and ready for whoever needs them. It's dusty but we like it.
