Visvavela Bricks & Hollow Blocks

Our business, Visvavela Bricks & Hollow Blocks, is located at No. 9/2 A on Karimaicka Perunal South Car Street. Being on a Car Street means we are right in the heart of things, often near the local temple activities. It’s an interesting place to work because the street can be very quiet one day and then packed with people the next. We have our space where we mix the materials and mold the hollow blocks. The grey blocks are lined up in rows across the ground to set and dry in the sun. It’s a very manual process, and we get our hands dirty every single day. We don’t have a big corporate structure or anything like that. It is just a few of us making sure the mix is right and the blocks come out solid. When people need blocks for a wall or a small house, they just come by and talk to us. We count them out and help load them onto the carts or small trucks. There is always a layer of sand and cement dust around the place, which is pretty much expected in this line of work. We don't have a website or anything, we just rely on being right there on the street where people can see what we are making. It’s honest work, and we just focus on making enough blocks to keep up with the local demand.
