Jebasingh Brick

You can find us at 45/78, Chermaha Devi Road in Kalakkad. Jebasingh Brick is a name we have used for a long time around here. This is a local operation through and through. We work with the red clay and the water to make the bricks people need for their homes. It is a messy job, but it feels good to see a finished stack ready to go out on a truck. We are right on the road, so there is always some noise from the passing vehicles and buses. We don't have a fancy office. Most of the time we are outside in the yard or near the kilns checking the fire. We have a small crew of workers who have been with us for years. They know the rhythm of the work and don't need much telling. We start when the sun comes up. There is a lot of waiting for things to dry properly. You can't rush the process if you want the bricks to stay whole. We just take it day by day. We don't have any big slogans or goals. We just sell bricks to the people around here. Sometimes we have a lot of stock, and sometimes we are trying to catch up. It depends on the season and the rain. We like being part of the Kalakkad community. It's a place where people still talk to each other. We do our work and we don't make a big fuss. That is how we have always done it.
