Shree Ram Krishna Fabrics

We’ve been here at Annapurna Textile Market for a good while now. If you have ever walked down Ring Road in the afternoon, you know exactly how busy and loud it gets around this part of town. Our shop is at 209-210, and it is usually stuffed with rolls of fabric piled up almost to the ceiling. My cousin handles the back stock, and I usually stay up front to talk to people who come in. It is not a fancy place at all, just a practical space where we get our work done every day. Sometimes the old ceiling fans don’t work right when it is really hot, but we just open the door and manage. We have known the guys in the shop next door for over ten years, and we often share a pot of tea when things are slow. People come in looking for very specific weaves or colors, and we spend a lot of time digging through the stacks to find exactly what they need. It takes time because the inventory is always moving in and out. Most days are spent cutting cloth and packing it into bundles for the next delivery truck. The tea guy comes around twice a day, and that is usually when we take a small break to sit on the iron stools. It is quite loud outside with all the traffic and horns, but inside it is mostly just the sound of heavy shears and brown paper being folded.
