Jagannath Sahoo Panwala

My name is Jagannath Sahoo and this is my pan shop at Adajan Dn 2031. It is a busy part of the city these days. I have been here for a good long time now. The shop is small and tucked away. Most people just call it the panwala near the corner. I start my day early by cleaning the leaves and getting the spices ready in their pots. The jars are all organized but they look a bit lived-in after all this time. I do not use a computer or anything like that. Just a small metal box for the cash. People from the offices nearby come by during their breaks to get away from their desks. We talk about the cricket scores or the news in the paper. Sometimes the rain gets inside a bit if the wind is blowing the wrong way from the street. I just mop it up and keep going. The stools are old and they creak when someone sits down. It is a simple place. Adajan has changed a lot since I started, with many more cars and taller buildings, but my shop stays about the same. I enjoy the rhythm of the day. Folding the leaves is something I can do without even looking now. It is just me here most of the time. I keep the water cold in a clay pot for anyone who is thirsty. It is a regular life. Nothing to complain about really. Just doing my work and seeing the neighbors.
