Food Express

Working at Surat Railway Station on Platform No 1 is never quiet. We are right there where the trains pull in, and there is always a crowd of people rushing to find their coaches or carrying heavy luggage. The noise of the announcements is something you just stop hearing after a while because it’s constant. At Food Express, we spend a lot of time just keeping up with the pace of the station. People are usually in a hurry to grab something before their train leaves, so we have to move fast. The platform gets quite hot, especially in the afternoons when the sun hits the tracks. We keep the counters wiped and the supplies stocked up because you never know when a big train will arrive and everyone will show up at once. It’s a bit of a strange place to work compared to a regular street restaurant, but it’s interesting to see all the different people traveling through Surat. We see families, students, and workers every single day. The floor always needs sweeping because of the dust from the tracks, but that’s just part of being at a major station like this. We don’t have much space, so everything is tucked in tight. It’s a long day from start to finish, and the station never really sleeps. We just stay focused on our tasks and try to keep things moving for the passengers who are passing through.
