U P Paneer Sweets Corner

If you head down Jal Vihar Road in Lajpat Nagar II, you'll find us at L 78, right in the busy Central Market area. It’s a very crowded place to be. Every morning starts with the delivery of fresh milk to make our paneer. You can usually see the big blocks of white paneer sitting in water behind the counter. We also make a variety of sweets, so the smell of cardamom and frying ghee is always in the air. The kitchen area is in the back, and it gets quite hot back there with the big vats of sugar syrup bubbling away. During lunch, it gets really busy because people come in for snacks and tea. We don’t have much seating, so most people just stand around or take their stuff to go. The floor gets a bit sticky sometimes, no matter how much we sweep it. We use a lot of metal trays to display the barfis and laddoos. It’s a loud, busy environment with people shouting orders and the sound of traffic from the main road. I’ve been working here for a while, and it’s a lot of standing on your feet all day. We try to keep things simple and fresh. When festivals come around, we have boxes piled up to the ceiling ready for the gift-giving rush. It’s just a standard sweets shop where the focus is on the food. Things move quickly and we try our best.
