You can find us in Sector 62, at C-30/4. This is a bit of a quieter area compared to some of the other markets, but we still stay plenty busy. We are a sweet shop, and that means our day starts very early. Usually, the first thing we do is boil the milk for the mava and the other sweets we make in-house. The kitchen is right behind the main counter, so the smell of sugar and ghee fills the whole place by nine in the morning. We don’t use any pre-made mixes or anything like that. We do it the old way, which takes a lot more time and effort. My hands are usually sticky from the sugar syrup by noon. We have a few glass display cases where we put out what’s fresh that day. Sometimes we have a lot of one thing and not much of another, it just depends on what we felt like making or what we had the ingredients for. During the festival seasons, things get a bit crazy. We have to bring in extra help and we work late into the night. But on a normal day, it’s just a steady stream of people from the nearby houses coming in for a box of sweets or some snacks for their evening tea. We keep the place clean, but it’s a working shop, not a showroom.
