National Centre For Design And Product Development (Ncdpd)

Our place is at 43 Okhla Industrial Estate. It’s a busy part of town and there’s always a lot of noise from the nearby shops and factories. At the National Centre For Design And Product Development (Ncdpd), things are usually a bit messy. That’s just how it is when you’re working on designs and making things. We have tables covered in sketches and little models. Some of them work and some of them don't, but that's part of the process. We’ve been here in Okhla for a good while. The building has that industrial feel which suits what we do. It’s not about having a shiny office. It’s about having the tools and the space to try out new ideas. We have people coming in with different skills, and we all just sort of muck in together. Some days are spent mostly on the computer, and other days we’re actually putting things together by hand. There’s a lot of back and forth between the staff. We don't really do formal stuff. If someone has a thought, they just say it. It can get a bit loud when everyone is talking at once, but we usually figure it out. The hours can be unpredictable depending on what project is sitting on the bench. We just stay until the work is finished or we get too tired to keep going. It is what it is, and we like the work.
