Giani’S has been a part of Kalkaji for a while now, specifically at E 156/2. We’re just a local shop that serves up cold treats and sweets. It’s not a large place, so during the summer, people often end up standing outside on the sidewalk while they eat. The crowd is just something we've gotten used to. The shop is pretty basic, with white tiles and a couple of freezers that hum all day long. A big corporate office or a team of designers doesn't exist for us. It’s just us making sure the flavors are right and the service is quick enough for everyone. Sometimes the line gets a bit long, and we have to move fast. We’ve seen kids grow up coming here, which is a nice thing about being in the same spot in Kalkaji for so long. Fancy advertising isn't something we do. Usually, people just see the sign or hear about us from a neighbor. The neighborhood is noisy and there's always something going on outside, but inside we just focus on the task at hand. Keeping the place clean is important, but it’s a working shop, so there’s always a bit of a bustle. We aren't trying to change the world. We just want to keep the freezers running and see people enjoy what we make. It’s a good way to spend the day, and we plan on being here at E 156/2 for a long time. It feels like home.
