Garg Psychiatric Clinic

We are down here in the basement of building J 1922 in C R Park. It’s a quiet part of the neighborhood, mostly residential with lots of trees. When you walk down the stairs, it takes a second for your eyes to adjust from the bright Delhi sun. We’ve been here for a while now, just doing our daily thing. It isn't a fancy hospital with glass walls or shiny receptionists. Usually, it's just us and the patients. People come in when they're feeling a bit overwhelmed or when things in their heads aren't quite lining up right. We have some chairs that have seen better days and a desk that’s always covered in folders and papers. Sometimes the ceiling fan makes a little clicking sound, but nobody seems to mind it much. Dealing with psychiatric stuff means a lot of sitting and listening. We spend most of the day just in these rooms, hearing about people’s lives. Outside, the CR Park traffic goes by and you can hear the occasional vegetable seller calling out from the street. It feels very grounded here. We open up in the morning, sweep the floor, and wait for the first person to knock. There’s no big philosophy behind it, we just provide a place where folks can talk and get their prescriptions sorted. It gets a bit dusty because of the street nearby, so we’re always wiping down the surfaces. It’s a small, practical space for people who need some help with their mental health without any fuss.
