Ishani'S Sweet Room

Down in Alaknanda at B-37B in Gangotri Enclave, that is where you will find us. Ishani’S Sweet Room is basically where we spend all our time. It’s a kitchen and a counter mostly. We start early in the morning before the sun is even up. You have to get the milk and sugar ready or nothing happens. We aren't a big factory. It’s just local hands making things. Some days the smell of cardamom is so strong it stays on your clothes all the way home. We have regular neighbors who stop by just to say hello or grab a little something for after dinner. The enclave is quiet mostly but we stay busy. We don't use fancy machines for everything. A lot of it is just stirring and waiting for things to cool down. Sometimes a batch isn't perfect and we have to start over. That’s just part of it. We keep the floor swept and the glass clean so people can see what we made. It’s a small family kind of place. We don't have a big marketing plan or anything. We just make the sweets and put them in the boxes. If someone likes them, they tell a friend. We see the same faces every week which is nice. It makes the long hours feel a bit shorter when you know the people you are serving.
