Vedavati High School

Vedavati High School sits right on the Main Road in Chitradurga. If you are driving through this part of town, you will probably see our building from the street. The weather here can get quite hot in the afternoons, so we have ceiling fans in all the rooms, though they usually make a bit of a humming noise. We focus on the high school years, which is usually a busy and stressful time for the students. The building has many large windows to let the breeze in, but we still get a lot of dust from the traffic on the main road. Our classrooms are very basic, with long rows of wooden desks and a large chalkboard at the front for the teachers. We have had many groups of students pass through these doors over the years, and some of them still come back to say hello. It is a no-nonsense kind of place. We do not have a big budget for extras, so we make do with what we have on hand. The teachers are mostly local people who understand the community here in Chitradurga. Lunchtime is the loudest part of the day when everyone gathers in the hallways or stands under the trees outside. We keep a close eye on the school gates and the attendance books. It is a sturdy building and a very steady place to go to school every day. We just try to get through the syllabus.
