Kuvempu High School

Our school is located in the Hosanagar area, right near Sagar Bazar in Shimoga. It’s a bit of a different pace here than in the big cities. The building has that old-fashioned look to it, with thick walls and high ceilings that help keep things a little cooler in the humid weather. We are right near the market, so you can hear the sounds of the traders and the people shopping throughout the day. It’s a high school, so we deal with the older kids who are mostly thinking about their future and their exams. We have a few old trees in the yard that give some nice shade, which is where the students like to sit and talk during their lunch break. The library is small and the books have that old paper smell, but the students still use it to study. Our teachers are mostly people from this neighborhood who have been teaching for many years and know all the families. We don't have any of those modern glass buildings or fancy sports fields. It’s just a collection of classrooms and a small office where we handle the paperwork and the registers. Things move a bit slower here, and we like it that way. We just focus on the daily lessons and making sure the students show up on time for their morning classes. It’s a practical, local school that has been part of the community for quite some time now and it suits us just fine.
