Vasantha Priya Restaurant

Vasantha Priya Restaurant is part of the Hotel Vasantham building on LIC Colony Road. We are right across from the New Bus Stand in Salem, so it’s never really quiet here. You can hear the buses pulling in and out all day long. Because we’re near the bus stand, we get a lot of people who are just passing through town or waiting for their next ride. The floors get dirty pretty fast with all the foot traffic, so someone is usually mopping every hour. We don’t have a fancy dining room with decorations. It’s just tables and chairs and a menu that’s been the same for a long time. The kitchen staff stays busy from early morning until late at night. Sometimes the wait for a table is a bit long when a big bus arrives, and we have to ask people to be patient. We buy our vegetables from the local market every morning. It’s a family-run kind of thing, and we don’t really bother with advertisements. Most people find us because they’re hungry and we’re right there on the road. The street outside, Meyyanur, is always dusty and loud, but once you’re inside, it’s a bit calmer. We just keep serving food and trying to keep up with the dishes. It’s not a glamorous life, but it keeps us busy and the regulars seem to appreciate having a place they know.
