Sri Dhanalakshmi Mess

Suramangalam is a busy place because of the Salem railway station right across from us. You can hear the trains pulling in and the announcements if you listen closely enough. We set up this mess because people are always coming and going. It gets crowded when a big train arrives and everyone is looking for something quick before they head home or to the bus stand. I usually spend my mornings checking the vegetables and making sure the stove is working right. The station area never really sleeps, so there is always some movement outside. We do not have a big menu, just what we can make fresh that day. Sometimes the rain in Salem makes everything a bit messy on the road, but people still come in to get out of the wet. It is a simple setup with basic tables and chairs. We are not trying to do anything fancy here. Most of the people who come in are regulars who work at the station or drive the autos nearby. They just want a plate of food and a glass of water. It is a lot of work being on your feet all day, but it is what we know. The sun can get really harsh in the afternoons, so we keep the fans running high. It is just a regular day-to-day thing for us here in Suramangalam, watching the trains and the people.
