Nellai Dosa Kadai

Nellai Dosa Kadai is situated along the Kovai By Pass Road in Salem. Specifically, we are at 8/165 1, right on the down slope of that big butterfly flyover bridge in Uthamasolapuram. It’s a bit of a weird spot because the vehicles are usually picking up speed or slowing down as they come off the bridge. You can hear the roar of the engines all day long. The shop itself is pretty straightforward. We don’t have much in the way of fancy furniture. It’s just a place to sit down and eat. The heat from the tawa is constant, and you can smell the batter cooking from the road. Being near the bypass means we get a lot of people who are just passing through Salem on their way somewhere else. We also have local regulars from Uthamasolapuram who drop by in the evenings. The lighting is just regular tube lights, and the walls have a few scuffs here and there. It’s a working kitchen, so things aren't always perfectly tidy, but we keep it clean where it matters. We don't have a mission statement or anything like that. We just make dosas and try to keep up with the orders when the dinner rush hits. It’s a humble little spot on the side of a busy road, and we’ve been doing this for a good while now.
