Phalwan dhaba

Our dhaba, Phalwan dhaba, is out on the road from Asoda to Kharkhoda in Rohtak. We are right by the power house, which is the main way people describe where we are. It’s a very basic setup, just like any traditional dhaba you’d find on the Haryana roads. We have some outdoor seating and a big open kitchen where you can see the fire going all the time. The road is always full of dust and the sound of heavy trucks. It’s not a quiet place, but it’s an honest one. We started this because there weren't many places for the drivers and local workers to get a hot meal around here. We don't have a printed menu. You just walk up and see what’s cooking in the pots. Usually, it's the same few things every day, but we make sure it's hot and fresh. The heat in Rohtak can be really tough in the summer, especially standing near the tandoor, but we’re used to it. We don't have any fancy decorations or soft chairs. It’s all about getting some food and moving on with your journey. We get a lot of regulars from the power house who come in for their breaks. We don't talk much about business plans or anything corporate. We just make sure the chai is strong and the rotis are thick for whoever stops by. That's our life out here on the edge of the road.
