Raj Gharana

We are located at Lah Kothi on Ratu Road here in Ranchi. It’s a busy stretch of road and there is always something going on outside our doors, from traffic to people walking to work. Inside, we have various items laid out, mostly things for the home or traditional clothes, depending on what we have been able to get in lately. The building itself, Lah Kothi, has been around for a long time and has its own character, even if it’s a bit old now. We don’t have a big corporate team, it’s just us handling everything from opening the heavy shutters in the morning to locking up at night. The space isn't huge, so we have to use every bit of the walls and shelves to show what we have in stock. Sometimes the fabric gets a bit dusty because of the constant traffic on Ratu Road, so we have to be careful about cleaning and dusting the displays every few hours. People stop by while they’re out doing their other shopping on the weekend. We aren't trying to be a big fancy mall; we just want to have a good selection for the local folks who live nearby. We spend our afternoons folding things back up after customers have looked through the piles. It’s a simple way of doing business. We don't have a lot of rules or a strict way of doing things, we just talk to whoever walks in.
