Bengali Hotel

We are right here on Main Road in Khunti. It’s a busy spot because the Tata Bus Stand is just nearby, so there’s always people walking past our doors. We’ve been running Bengali Hotel for a bit now. Every morning starts pretty early for us. We get the stove going and start chopping vegetables before the first bus even pulls in. It gets quite loud outside with the horns and the conductors shouting, but that’s just how it is around here. Inside, we have basic wooden tables and chairs. It’s not fancy or anything like that. People come in, sit down, eat their meal, and then head back to whatever they were doing. Sometimes the floor gets a bit dusty because of the road work outside, but we try to sweep it when there’s a quiet moment. We serve mostly rice and fish curry, the usual stuff people look for. Sometimes we run out of things if the crowd is too big in the afternoon. We don’t have a big staff, just a few of us working together to keep things moving. You can see the bus stand from the front step. It’s a good place to watch the town go by. We don’t really do much advertising. People just know where we are because they see the sign when they get off the bus. It’s a simple life here in Khunti, and we just keep the kitchen running day after day without too much fuss.
