Mehta Bar & Restaurant

Running a place right on National Highway 33 here in Ormanjhi means we see a lot of different faces every single day. Most people are just passing through Ranchi or heading further down the road, so they stop in for a quick break. We have the bar and the restaurant side, and it stays pretty steady from lunch until late at night. The highway noise is always there in the background, trucks rumbling past and horns honking. It’s just how things are out here. The staff has been with us for a bit, and we mostly just focus on getting the food out and making sure the drinks are cold. Ormanjhi is a bit quieter once you get off the main road, but our spot stays busy because of the location. We don’t go for anything too flashy. The tables are sturdy, the menu is what it is, and we try to keep the place tidy enough for folks coming off a long drive. Sometimes the electricity acts up or we run out of something on a busy weekend, but we just fix it and keep going. It’s a decent living, even if the hours are long and the highway dust gets everywhere. We just open up in the morning, set the chairs, and wait for the first travelers to pull in for a meal. This road never really sleeps, so we just stay part of the flow.
