Sacha soda punjabi dhaba

Our dhaba is out by Shivaji Park in the Navagam area of Rajkot. We are right on National Highway 8 B, so we see a lot of people passing through. Most of our customers are truck drivers who have been on the road for days. They need a place where they can sit down and relax for an hour. We have the usual charpais set up outside under the shade so they can even take a nap if they need to. The highway is always loud and dusty, but that’s the reality of being out here. We don't have a fancy menu or a waiter in a uniform. My son handles the orders and I do the cooking on the big tandoor. The fire stays lit almost all day and night. We make the food heavy and spicy because that’s what helps the drivers stay awake on their long shifts. We serve a lot of tea, mostly with plenty of sugar and ginger. The building itself is just a basic structure with a tin roof. When it rains, it gets quite loud inside. We’ve been at this location for a long time. We know the highway patrol and the regular drivers by name. It’s a tough life sometimes with the heat and the dust, but we are used to it. We don’t do any marketing or have a website. If you're driving on the 8 B, you’ll see our lights. That’s enough for us.
