Popatlal Hirachand & Co. has been around Mandvi Chowk for a very long time. We are right in the heart of Shroff Bazar. It’s an old part of the city where the streets are narrow and always crowded with people. Our shop has been in the family for generations. We don't have a modern storefront with big glass windows. It's more of an old-fashioned setup with wooden counters and shelves that go all the way to the ceiling. We deal with a bit of everything, mostly whatever the local traders are looking for. The atmosphere in Shroff Bazar is always energetic. You can hear people bargaining and bells ringing from the nearby temples. We open up early in the morning and stay until the market starts to quiet down in the evening. There's no air conditioning, just a couple of old ceiling fans that creak a bit. We keep our records in thick handwritten books. It’s the way my father and grandfather did it. We know most of the other shopkeepers around here by name. We don't have a marketing department or a website. If someone needs us, they just come down to Mandvi Chowk and ask for our shop. It's a simple way of doing things, but it has worked for us for decades. We just keep going because it’s what we know how to do best.
