Jassi De Parathe

We started Jassi De Parathe at the Mangal Bhavan Appartment on Nirmala Road. It is tucked away a little bit, off Kalawad Road, but people in Rajkot seem to find us okay. We mostly focus on making parathes because that is what we know how to do best. The kitchen gets really hot in the summer months, but we just keep at it. We do not have fancy decorations or those expensive chairs you see in the big malls. It is just a plain place to sit down and have a meal. I usually handle the flour and the fillings myself to make sure things taste the way they should. My cousin helps out with the serving and cleaning the tables. Sometimes we run out of certain ingredients if the crowd is big on a Sunday afternoon. We do not use any fancy marketing tricks to get people in. Most customers come because they live nearby or they are just passing through Nirmala Road and smell the food cooking. It is a small operation. We have a few regulars who come in every single day, which is nice for us. We know their names and exactly what they are going to order before they even sit down. The traffic on the road can be a headache during rush hour, but that is just Rajkot. We just try to keep the place tidy and the stove going from morning until night. (249 words)
