Swami Samarth Masala

Our small business is based in Shivane. It is a simple operation where we grind and mix different types of spices. If you come near our place, you will definitely know it because the air is always thick with the smell of roasted chilies and coriander. It makes us sneeze a lot, but we don't mind it much anymore. We use some old grinding machines that are quite loud and shake the floor a bit when they are running at full speed. We don't have a big factory or a lot of employees. It is mostly just us and a couple of helpers who handle the packing. We source the raw spices and then spend time cleaning them by hand to make sure there are no stones or dirt. Our shop is just a small room with bags of spices piled up against the walls. We sell to the local people in Shivane and some small grocery stores nearby. We don't have any fancy labels or big advertisements. People just come to us because they like the way our masala tastes in their cooking. It is a very hands-on job and our clothes usually end up smelling like turmeric by the end of the day. We don't have a website or do any online sales. If someone wants our masala, they just come to the shop and we weigh it out for them. It’s a plain and simple way of doing things.
