Spice Kitchen is located right here in Gokhale Nagar. It’s a small kitchen, and mostly it smells like onions and spices from early in the morning until we close up at night. We don't have a lot of space, so things can get a bit crowded when we are preparing for the lunch rush. It’s just a regular place where we cook the kind of food we grew up eating. There’s no fancy menu or anything like that. We just write what we have on a board and hope people like it. Some days the stove acts up, or we run out of a certain ingredient because the market was short on it. That’s just part of running a small kitchen. The regulars know us by name, and we know who likes extra spice and who wants none at all. Gokhale Nagar has a lot of people moving through it, so we see a mix of students and workers every day. The walls are a bit plain, and the tables are just basic wood. We spend most of our time standing over the pots or washing up in the back. It’s hard work, and your clothes always end up smelling like curry, but it’s what we do. We don't try to be anything we aren't. If you want a quick meal that tastes like it was made at home, that is what you get here. We just keep cooking and serving until the pots are empty.
