Nagdev Masala & Oil Meal

You can usually smell our shop before you even see it on Shivaji Nagar Lokhandwala Road 101. The scent of ground spices and pressed oil hangs heavy in the air and it sticks to our clothes all day long. We have been at this location for quite some time now, dealing with heavy bags of seeds and various types of masalas. The machinery we use is old and loud, but it does the job just fine. Shivaji Nagar is a crowded area so there is always someone popping their head in to ask a question or check a price. We don't have a big fancy showroom, just rows of sacks and some metal containers for the oil. It gets dusty in here and we spend a lot of time sweeping, though it never seems to stay clean for long. My hands are usually stained from the turmeric or oily from the mill. We handle everything from the raw ingredients to the final bags that people take home. It’s a practical business and we don’t spend money on things we don’t need. People come to us at 101 because they know we’ve been here and we aren't going anywhere. It’s hard work, especially when the weather is humid, but it’s what we know how to do. The road outside is always chaotic, but inside, we just keep the mill turning and the spices flowing.
